Madigap and Madicare Advantage

Medigap Compared to Medicare Advantage

Choosing a Medicare Supplement plan or Medicare Advantage plan is a decision that must be considered carefully before you make it. The differences between the plans are many, the similarities few. For this reason, it is absolutely imperative that you understand the differences in order to purchase a plan that will be the most advantageous for you.
The fact remains, however, that if you can afford a supplement plan and you qualify medically, a Medigap plan usually proves to be the best for most people. The reality is that not everyone qualifies for it, though, so you must understand all your options. The biggest difference that can help you understand how dissimilar these options are is that Advantage pays as a replacement of Medicare while supplements pay after Medicare.
While you are still enrolled in a government program, the privatized Advantage plans replace the benefits you would have received from the federal government, simply on a privatized scale. Supplements on the other hand, as the name "Medigap" implies, are designed to fill in the gaps of the programs offered by the federal government. Supplements act as an addition to your program, not a replacement of it.
The reasons why Medigap can be more beneficial to you begin with the fact that Supplements can be used at doctors' offices that accept the federal program, while most holders of Advantage plans have a network of doctors they must choose to visit in order to be covered by their plans.
This could mean you have to leave your preferred doctor and drive long distances to reach one that is part of the network. Medicare Supplement plans do not usually use deductibles or co-pays as part of the plans. This can save you money over time, as daily hospital or doctor office co-pays do not exist with Supplement plans.
The final benefit of Supplement plans over Advantage plans is that the price is standardized and has been since 1992. Advantage plans, on the other hand, change annually. Recently this has consistently meant higher prices year after year.
Understanding the benefits of one side is not enough to make your decision. Advantage plans have many benefits alongside their disadvantages, so continue to compare and contrast until you feel comfortable with your choice. Medigap is not perfect for everyone, but if you qualify and can afford it, you will more than likely not regret your decision.

Self Employed Health Insurance

Getting Self Employed Health Insurance

The dream of self-employment is a familiar one for many of us-one that is likely to arise whenever we find ourselves particularly frustrated by an unfair employer, a pointless company meeting, or a rigid and inflexible schedule. The thought of firing our boss and seizing control of our own future-and of running a business where we get to call the shots-has obvious allure, and, for more and more forward-thinking Americans, it's an allure that prompts action. For those thinking seriously about making the jump to self-employment, however, there are plenty of worries and unanswered questions. Toward the top of the list, for many, is the issue of health insurance.
Certainly, health insurance is something we all need, whether employed or not, and, for those who have never gotten health insurance from anyone but an employer, it poses a truly daunting obstacle. Getting health insurance is not an insurmountable task, though, even for the self-employed. You just need to keep some basic pointers in mind.
For starters, know all about COBRA. When you leave your job to pursue self-employment, this is absolutely vital. You can file for COBRA health coverage for up to 18 months after leaving your job; this will provide you with some much-needed time to weigh other options and get your new business set up. Consult with your Human Resources representative at your previous place of employment to fill out the necessary paperwork-but remember that you must do so within 60 days of your employment ending.
Second, check out some of the profession-specific organizations out there, many of which offer group healthcare coverage. There are nationwide, professional associations for realtors, for instance, and also for freelance writers; joining one of these groups is often a great way to secure access to group health insurance rates. This is one of the easiest ways to obtain coverage, assuming there is a professional group that corresponds with your profession.
A final option is to reach out to the National Association of the Self-Employed. If you are a member in good standing with this group-if you are up-to-date on your dues and so forth-then you can apply for health coverage through the association. Again, this is a good way to get group rates even if you do not have any other employees. Keeping these ideas in mind will help you weigh your options and make good, informed decisions about obtaining affordable health insurance even as you venture into self-employment.

Health Savings Accounts

Enrollment In Health Savings Accounts Plans Increased By 14 Percent

Expert Author Wiley P Long
America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) recently released the result of their annual census survey regarding Health Savings Accounts (HSA). Survey showed that the number of enrollees in high-deductible health plans linked with HSA plans surged by 14 percent this year. From January 2008 wherein only 6.8 million Americans enrolled in HSA health plans, the number of enrollees has nearly doubled in January 2011.
Approximately 11.4 million Americans are now covered with HSA plans. Statistics show that HSA enrollment significantly rose in the large-group market (26 percent) than in the individual market (15 percent). Employers having 50 or more employees had 6.3 million people in HSA health plans in Jan. 1, 2011. However, HSA enrollment in the small-employer market dropped by 7 percent (2.8 million).
Since 2004, when Health Savings Accounts were introduced to the market, enrollment has risen steadily and significantly. As stated by Karen Ignagni, President and CEO of AHIP, "HSA plans continue to be a vital source of affordable coverage for millions of families and employers across the country."
Percentage Of HSA Enrollment In Different States Revealed
Census also showed which states had the highest and lowest percentage of HSA enrollees younger than 65 with private health insurance.
Minnesota ranked first with 14.9 percent. Minnesota is then followed closely by Vermont with 11.4 percent and Colorado with 11.3 percent.
States with the lowest percentage of HSA plan enrollees are Hawaii (0.2 %), West Virginia (2.1%) and Mississippi (2.4 %).
According to numerous surveys, HSA growth can be attributed to the low premiums of high-deductible health insurance plans compared to the traditional health insurance plans.
Are HSA Plans Threatened By The Affordable Care Act?
Robert Zirkelback, AHIP's spokesman, said that despite the growth in HSA plans, the association is still worried about the Affordable Care Act's impact on Health Savings Account plans.
The Affordable Care Act was made in an attempt to provide healthcare coverage to millions of uninsured people. However, it also imposes certain restrictions on insurers. In particular, Zirkelbach stated that HSA plans could be threatened by a new rule under the healthcare reform law that requires insurers to spend a certain percentage of premiums on medical care or offer refunds to customers.
Aside from that, HSA funds can no longer be used to buy over-the-counter drugs without a prescription coming from your doctor. This particular restriction reduces the consumers' access to common over-the-counter medications, and instead promotes the use of higher-cost prescription drug options.
Enrolling In Health Savings Accounts Can Still Give You Numerous Benefits
Despite the current changes in Health Savings Accounts, these plans are still being embraced by consumers.
Employers have shown great interest in HSA plans to combat skyrocketing health care expenses and to make their workers more aware of the costs. The contributions placed by your employer are also helpful in reducing the tax amount that they need to pay. In addition, the HSA contributions made by your employer are yours to keep even if you decide to leave or retire from the company.
Since HSA plans are paired with high-deductible plans, you get to pay lower monthly premiums than full coverage plans. To get an HSA-linked health plan, the minimum deductible for individual coverage is $1,200 and $2,400 for family coverage.
The money you place in your HSA earns tax-free. What's even better is that withdrawals made to pay for qualified medical expenses are not subjected to tax either. Once you reach 65 and above, all the withdrawals you make are tax deferred. In addition, the unused money rolls over every year just like an IRA.
Despite the changes in Health Savings Accounts, a high-deductible health plan combined with an HSA can help you save with low premiums, lower taxes and tax-free savings.

What is Health Insurance

What is Medicare Advantage?

Expert Author Marilyn Katz What Are Medicare Advantage Health Plans?
Medicare offers US beneficiaries a lot of choices these days. If you understand the choices, their costs and benefits, it should be simple to pick a health plan that will work for you or somebody you care for. However, when you first look at all of the choices, it can seem very confusing.
When you have original Medicare, you will use your government issued card to access benefits. If even you supplement your benefits with a Medicare benefits, you will use that benefit card plus a card issued by a private health supplement company. But Medicare Advantage (MA) plans work a little differently. If you join an MA plan, you will just use that card to access your health benefits.
You will still be a Medicare beneficiary, but the benefits of you new plan will replace your original plan benefits. These plans are marketed by private insurance companies, but they are subsidized with the same federal money that would underwrite the original plan.
The Medicare Advantage
All MA plans must be approved by the government, and they must provide benefits that are equal, or greater to, the original plan. In fact, one reason that MA plans are attractive because they may provide extra benefits or services to their members. For example, some provide transportation of health club memberships. Some may offer additional services,, than are not usually part of Medicare, like dental check ups. And some are custom made for people with special needs. These Special Needs Medicare Advantage plans can be helpful for those with certain situations or health conditions.
Another thing that is attractive about MA plans is that they may not cost much. Most beneficiaries pay a premium for Part A and Part B that comes out of their social security check. In addition, these plans are funded with federal money. Some require an additional premium, but some do not. Some have even rebated part of the original plan premium. This is attractive to many seniors or disabled people with limited incomes.
Types of MA Plans
There is more than one type of plan, just as there is more than one type of other health insurance policies. You can find PPO, HMO, or PFFS (Fee for Service) policies. PPO and HMO plans use a network of doctor. With an HMO, you are the most restricted to using the network in order to get coverage. With a PPO plan, you use the network for the best benefits, but you may stil be covered outside the network. Either plan usually allows some exceptions. A typical exception would be emergency treatment. But because of the network of plan medical service providers, these plans can be the simplest to use, but also the most restrictive.
A new type of plan is called Private Fee For Service (PFFS). These will pay the costs for any medical service provider, but the provider must be wiling to work with the particular plan you have.
Some MA plans include prescription benefits (Medicare Part D), and some do not. If your plan does not come bundled with Part D coverage, you would have to join another Medicare prescription plan for those benefits.
Which Medicare Advantage Plan is Best For You?
Nobody can give a blanket answer to this question. If you live in an area with a very large HMO network, you may be very satisfied with the simplicity and coverage. If you live in an area where the network medical providers are scarce, you may want to consider a PPO or PFFS so you will not be locked into a network. Your own best choice really depends upon the plans that are marketed in your area, your budget, and the way you prefer to get medical services.
MA plans do have advantages, but they are not good for everybody. Some Medicare beneficiaries prefer to stay with original Medicare, and then pay extra for a supplement which may cover more costs. Keep in mind that the original health plan and supplements are very different from MA plans.
The important thing is for you to be informed about the different choices you do have. Once you understand these choices, and how they will affect your benefits, you can find the best Medicare health insurance for you!

Catastrophic Health Insurance

Catastrophic Health Insurance Plans - The Advantage

Expert Author Jared J. Balis Today: In today's world, health insurance is expensive. If your employer isn't helping you pay your premiums, or you are self employed, and have to pay for it yourself, it can take a good chunk of your income to protect your family's health and financial well being.
Comprehensive Coverage:  Most Americans are used to plans that pay for office visits, prescriptions, and minor accidents before the deductible has to be met. Let's face it. A lot of Americans have been spoiled.
American Employers are Adapting to High Costs: As costs continue to rise year after year, it's no wonder that businesses cut back on benefits. Some have even dropped health insurance as a benefit altogether.
Dropping the Bells and Whistles: By dropping all the bells and whistles (office visit, prescription, and accident coverage) and moving to a catastrophic health insurance plan, individuals and families have the opportunity to save a lot of the money that is normally spent on monthly premium.
A Real Life Example: Recently I ran an illustration for a 37 year old male with a 33 year old wife. They have two kids. The "normal" type of plan that many of us have been used to came out to be around $600 per month (with a $1,000 deductible).   By moving to a catastrophic health insurance plan with a $5,000 deductible, this family's premium dropped to $151 per month. Sure, it's true that they now have to pay out of pocket for office visits, prescriptions, and minor accidents. However, since the family is relatively healthy, and doesn't have very many everyday expenses, their savings of $449 per month more than cover their risk after saving a year's worth of premiums.
The Final Word: If you don't utilize your current health plan much, moving to a catastrophic health insurance plan could prove to be a valuable financial move.

Health Insurance Plans

Health Insurance Plans Covering Maternity

Expert Author Adam Hyers
Many families are in search of affordable health insurance that will provide maternity or pregnancy benefits. Health carriers offer such plans, but they vary in the amount of coverage provided. Many insurers will not provide benefits to the insured for at least nine months.
As with all things insurance related, you must plan ahead. Occasionally, consumers are interested in maternity policies once they are already pregnant. They are disappointed to learn insurance cannot be purchased to cover a pregnant spouse - pregnancy is a preexisting condition. Insurers simply will not take on this risk. However, a health plan can be purchased for a healthy mother and child after delivery.
When is My Pregnancy Covered?
Generally, policies will provide benefits for maternity after the insurance has been in force for nine months, but some carriers offer plan with limited benefits that begin day one. However, if you were to purchase a plan with a nine month waiting period, your pregnancy would not be covered if the child was delivered before the nine month window had expired. Again, it is prudent to plan ahead and purchase a policy with a maternity rider some months before conception.
It might be helpful to look at this from the insurance provider's point of view. Typically, when a couple desires and pays for a maternity plan, then they are likely to use it. The insurance company is relatively certain that a claim will come in the near future. Thus, they will build the cost into the premium for the insured (you) and mandate a waiting period. That being said, some companies are offering plans that are more attractive than others.
A Popular HSA Maternity Plan with a Reasonable Deductible
One insurance company offers a Health Savings Account (or HSA) with a maternity rider and a low $1,500 individual deductible. Once the deductible has been reached and the nine month waiting period has been satisfied, the plan would cover the balance of the pregnancy. In this example, you could fund the HSA account with at least the $1,500 and write that off against your income. The $1,500 could be withdrawn tax free to satisfy the deductible and then the policy benefits would kick in. Currently, this HSA plan is one of the more popular policies available.
Another popular plan has no waiting period and provides more benefits the longer the policy is held. The maternity rider will cover $2,000 toward a pregnancy in the first two years. During years three and four, the policy will pay up to $4,000 and years five and on the policy provides coverage up to $6,000.
Another option is to simply self insure for a pregnancy. Many consumers will purchase traditional health insurance or possibly an HSA qualified plan and save each month in order to cover maternity expenses.
How are Pregnancies Billed?
At this point, clients often ask about pre-natal care and doctor's office visits. Fortunately, most Obstetricians do not charge as you go. Doctor's visits, pre-natal care and delivery are all included as part of the pregnancy and usually subject to one, pre-determined charge. Thus, the final bill can be run through your insurance company (assuming you purchased a maternity rider) and then settled up.
When purchasing health insurance policies covering pregnancy, you must plan ahead. There are several options available, but you will get the most from your policy if you do your due diligence and purchase the policy ahead of time.

Health Insurance Tips

Health Insurance Tips Guide

Sound health is an indispensable feature of every individual's life. No targets and success can be achieved if we are physically unwell. In order to safeguard this central aspect of our life, health insurance is the need of the hour.
Health insurance as we all know is the best way to secure your health against all expected and unexpected problems. Due to this almost every individual seeks to acquire a health insurance policy.
At present there are many companies offering health insurance. While going for a health insurance policy you will confront a choice between private and government insurance. Prior to opting for either policy, you should know that with a private health insurance you would have an access to luxurious private hospitals, wide range of private doctors to choose from and mostly immediate treatment. While in a government health insurance scheme the lifetime health cover penalizes people who take out health insurance later in life with higher premiums. If you take the policy after your 31st birthday you will be required to pay a 2% surcharge annually up to 70%. So for instance if you acquire the policy at the age of 50 you will have to pay 30% more than a person who joined at the age of 30.
Government health insurance policy also comes up with a Medicare levy surcharge according to which unmarried people earning more than $50k and married couples with or without children earning more than $100k will pay an extra 1% Medicare surcharge in addition to 1.5% Medicare levy most people pay. But this extra annual expenditure of $500 to $1000 can be avoided by opting for hospital insurance.
Premium plays a key role in choosing the kind of policy you want. Money can be saved on premium in various ways such as purchasing a policy with 'excess' or the money that an individual is required to pay for stay in a hospital before benefits are payable. You can also buy a policy that asks for a co-payment. In case of co-payment if you don't go into hospital, the member decides to pay usually a fixed amount of money each time he avails the service. Choosing a policy that doesn't include several treatment facilities is also an option to lower your premium rates. Besides this you can also buy a policy that only covers you as a private patient in a public hospital. However it is better and in the long run beneficial to take a policy that offers a high 'excess' in comparison to those that exclude several treatment conditions. Some commonly barred treatments are- cosmetic surgery, cataract surgery, rehabilitation, hip, knee and other joint replacements, obstetrics and birth related care, assisted reproduction and psychiatric care. In case you want coverage for any of these treatments, prior to purchasing make sure your policy includes it.

Running of Health Insurance

The Advantage of Running a Health Insurance Comparison Shop

There are practical advantages of performing a health insurance comparison. You should do so first before buying any healthcare plan.
When you buy a product, you certainly do not purchase just about anything that comes to your face. As much as possible, you would want to buy the best according to quality, reliability, brand, and of course price. This is also true when you shop for a healthcare plan. It is best if you would run a health insurance comparison so you could easily find and identify the best health insurance product in the market.
How Do You Do A Health Insurance Comparison
It is very simple, though it could require much time and effort. You need to get quotes from as many as five or more healthcare insurers. You should get their offered premiums and the overall costs incurred. At the same time, you should also get basic information about basic healthcare coverage and insurance period. When you have gathered such data, you could make a simple table to make the practical tally. This way, you could easily identify which insurer is offering the cheapest premium and cost.
As you do your health insurance comparison, you could also look at other information. Sometimes, an insurer might be offering the lowest premium compared to others but the coverage of the policy could be very inferior and useless compared to the rest. In such a case, you should not stick with the usual practice of selecting the cheapest. You should find the most reasonable premium considering the healthcare coverage and provisions.
What Could Be The Advantage Of Running A Health Insurance Comparison
As mentioned, you could easily identify the insurance company that offers and provides the best premiums and the best possible coverage. It may not be possible to do so without employing the comparison shop. Again, it would be helpful if you would list as many health insurers as you could in the activity.
The comparison shop could enable you to easily identify the best health insurance products in the market. You may look at the best and most trusted names or brands. At the same time, the activity could help you take a look at new and less popular options that are usually overlooked in the market. You may not know it now, but those overlooked insurance products could be the best and the most suitable for your own medical and health needs.
Lastly, you could save significant amount of time, energy, and money if you run a healthcare insurance comparison before you buy one. This is because you would already identify the pros and cons of a product long before you actually buy and use one. You would not need to waste money buying an insurance plan that is actually not tailored for your own use.

Health Insurance coverage on the Web

Get Health Insurance Online - How to Purchase Health Insurance Coverage on the Web

Buying health insurance online is a simple and convenient way to get the coverage you need. Instead of having to call or visit a lot of agents, you can go to a website and sign up or obtain further information there.
There are two basic kinds of sites which deal with obtaining health insurance online: Sites run directly by health insurers, and quote services. Major health insurance companies now not only give quotes on their sites, some of them allow online applications as well. This is a colossal change from just a few years ago, when some insurers didn't even offer individual plans, let alone allow online applications for them. Now, it seems, insurers have finally realized that there are a lot of people who either are self-employed or who are employed at companies that don't offer health insurance.
There are many plans available at each major health insurance company. Therefore, the first step for most people will be to check out all the plans, get quotes, and choose the best plan for their situation. The next step is to actually apply for coverage, or "enroll" in a plan, as some insurers put it.
To apply at a major insurer, you will first need to enter your ZIP code. The site will then direct you to their state-specific site for the rest of the information. If you are applying, rather than just asking for a quote, you will need to have a lot of personal information handy. They will need your prior coverage information, your medical history, and your pharmacy history. Some insurers estimate the time it will take to complete an online application on their site. Fifteen to forty-five minutes is one estimate. The time varies based on family size and medical history. It can take up to four weeks for the enrollment form to be processed.
The other type of online insurance site is the "quote service" variety. Quote services are very popular, because they offer consumers the ability to check out several plans and companies at the same time. Typically, when a user of one of these sites finds plans of interest, he or she can then fill out a quote request form. Agents representing the companies of interest will then contact the person with their quotes.
Whether you use an online quote service or go directly to your favorite health insurance company's site, it's quicker and easier than ever to obtain health insurance coverage. Check out the options and choose the one that's best for your situation.

Florida super environment fo Health

Florida State Health Insurance

Florida state health insurance is the best solution for people who are denied sufficient insurance coverage due to their medial conditions. This is an affordable health insurance plan initiated by the Florida Legislature. The flexibility of state health insurance is far superior to the normal choices like individual health insurances and group health insurances. Most programs in Florida state health insurance provide coverage at affordable rates that can well fit the budgets of all qualifying Floridian families.
For people who have low income, Florida state health insurance has the Medicaid program that they could possible qualify for. Your local Division of Family Services office will provide the necessary information and the prescribed application form. Interesting thing here is the number of people who would actually qualify for this service but most people think they would not. The program requires filling out an application and providing some documentation about your finances. The policy issued by this program covers medical expenses of the entire family, including dental work, eye care, doctor visits, emergency care, and prescription drugs.
For people with children who do not get coverage through their employment, Florida state health insurance has programs to insure the health of children. One of the programs is the Florida Healthy Kids Corporation (FHKC), which provides private sector health care coverage to uninsured children in 24 counties using school districts as large risk pools. Child plans cover a full range of services from regular check-ups, preventive care, immunization, lab tests, to hospital visits and other related expenses. Besides, the State of Florida extends Medicaid coverage to children aged between 15 and 19 with family incomes up to 100% of the federal poverty level (""Waxman Children"").
Florida state health insurance plan is also open to "federally eligible individuals" as defined by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act 1996 (HIPPA). The act protects health insurance coverage for you and your family when you change or lose your job.
Florida state health insurance policies have been designed to give relief to families who do not qualify for highly rated health insurance programs nor have the ability to pay the expensive installments of private insurance.

Accident Health Iinsurance plans most Affordable

Accident Health Insurance Plans

Guide to Accident Health Insurance Plans in the United States
Accident health insurance plans are attracting a lot of attention in the supplemental accident coverage market because it's so practical. This type of personal injury insurance plan falls into the indemnity category rather then the insurance category. Indemnity's compensate you for damage, loss, or injury in cash payments to you directly or the health care provider. These plans are guarantee issue and require no health questions when enrolling. Americans who have this clever type of accident plan receive benefits with any doctor, emergency room hospital, or urgent care type facility. Members can choose a benefit amount (policy face value) of $2,500, $5,000, $7,500, or $10,000. These principal sum benefits are payed per accident (per injury). Typical deductible (deductible is the dollar amount person must pay before insurance company pays) is $100 dollars and all other hospital bills are payed up to the policy max. If someone has the $10,000 benefit accident plan and gets injured, resulting into a a $10,000 dollar ACL knee surgery, it could potentially only cost the member $100 dollars out of pocket. Member can also choose any surgeon for the procedure which is comforting.
Personal accident insurance are membership plans that have monthly dues. These association benefits clearly state they are not insurance but a type of accident medical expense plan. Coverage is for bodily injuries and not disease or sickness. Emergency room coverage is the core focus. Other names for this type of plan include supplemental accident coverage, emergency room insurance, accident medical expense benefit, accident health insurance plan, 24 hour accident coverage, and accident medical coverage. Anyone who's had a high deductible insurance plan knows that a lot of bills come from the emergency room.
Association based membership benefits isn't anything new. The main benefit to these plans are affordable monthly dues, everyone qualifies, and benefits are paid in conjunction with any licensed medical care facility or doctor. The applications don't have any health questions during enrollment but automatic acceptance is only up to age 64 or 70.
Everyone being able to qualify for a personal accident insurance plan is a good thing. Flexibility for members to choose any doctors office, medical clinic, or hospital emergency room makes sense because this is a type of accidental injury policy. When I was researching these plans and gathering all the sales brochures, having the ability to choose any doctor, clinic, or hospital ER was consistent and true. The accident medical coverage usually has a $100 dollar deductible and a per member coverage amount of $2,500, $5,000, $7,500, or $10,000. Plans pay part of the bills you are charged at the doctor, hospital, ER, up to the maximum benefit chosen per covered injury. Another way to phrase that is a personal injury insurance plan pays for all bodily injuries from a accident, less the $100 deductible, up to the maximum benefit of $2,500, $5,000, $7,500, or $10,000.
In most circumstances these plans pay accidental injury benefits. Except for injuries a member sustains while under the influence of drugs / alcohol, during act of war, or if also covered on workers compensation. These are standard rules for just about any health insurance product. Injury benefits are payed to members per incident or per injury. During coverage, each accident is treated as a new event with new benefit payments, but subject to another $100 dollar deductible. Benefits are paid directly to members or the health care provider. Some plans only pay the health care provider, and other plans clearly state they pay the member directly. You'll have to review the policy to see how payment is handled.
Specific benefits covered by this type of personal injury insurance plan include: doctors fee for surgery (inpatient or outpatient), ambulance expenses, doctors visits, hospital emergency room care, anesthesia services, prescription drugs, nurse expenses, hospital confinement, operating room, laboratory tests, x-rays, MRI's, dental treatment to sound natural teeth, physical therapy, hospital room and board.
During my research of checking out dozens of these accident insurance plans it was interesting to find out that a lot of these plans are underwritten by Guarantee Trust Life Insurance Company. This means that Guarantee Trust Life is "backing" this type of personal accident coverage and that hundreds of health insurance firms are marketing the plans for them. So there are a lot of different agencies selling these plans but the trail leads back to one main insurance company. Guarantee Trust Life Insurance Company has been around for 70 plus years and is located at 1275 Milwaukee Ave. Glenview, Illinois 60025. Of all the different firms selling these plans the best rates I've found so far is the following.
For individuals, a $5,000 benefit plan is around $22 a month, $7,500 benefit is $28 a month, and a $10,000 is $34 dollars a month. For families, $5,000 benefit is $35 a month, $7,500 is $41 a month, and $10,000 is $47 dollars a month. The $10,000 accident benefit plan at $47 dollars a month includes the entire family. Even if the family has six members, it's still $47 a month total. Bigger the family, the more that $47 a month membership stretches. Anyway you look at it, that is a lot of useful real world coverage for that price.
Personal accident insurance plans are sold by some health insurance agents to compliment their clients HDHP (High Deductible Health Plan). Due to medical inflation and the constant rate increases from insurance companies, typical deductibles these days are $5,000 and $10,000. Deductible is the dollar amount a covered person must pay before the health insurance policy kicks in. This basically means the insured has to come up with that $5,000 or $10,000 dollars before the policy pays anything. This is where the common complaint that "my health insurance plan doesn't pay anything" comes from. What people are saying is that when they rush to the emergency room from a accidental injury, odds are they will be paying that deductible out of pocket on top of the expensive premiums every month. It's for this reason that emergency room insurance plans offset that deductible exposure. Plans help pay the expenses associated with accidents which is realistic. This upfront accident coverage can pay off that huge deductible. In short, these accident insurance policies fill in the gaps perfect with the catastrophic high deductible plans being offered in the United States. Picking up a accident plan as a "stand alone" supplement is equally as smart.

Health good insurance for better life

Health Insurance

The term health insurance is commonly used to describe a form of insurance that pays for medical expenses. It is sometimes used more broadly to include insurance covering disability or long-term nursing.
Health insurance is a type of insurance policy in which the insurer provides for the cost of any or all of the health care services. There are many types of health insurance such as fee-for-service, managed care, and more. Health insurance is offered to individuals as well as groups. Group health insurance is designed to meet the health care needs of employees of large as well as small companies. It is sometimes used more broadly to include insurance covering long-term nursing or disability.
If you suffering from sickness or injury, insurance provides payment benefits of various types which also includes medical expense insurance, accident insurance, dismemberment insurance, accidental death insurance.
Short-term medical insurance or short-term health insurance plans also known as Temporary health insurance. Temporary health insurance policy valid only for a Limited period of time.

How Much Does Health Insurance Usually Cost?

The average cost of health insurance is difficult to measure precisely. The mean cost in 2008 of insurance from an employer was $4,700 per annum for an individual, and $17,700 per annum for a family of four, according to Kaiser
It is normally agreed that cover purchased by the customer without either administration aid or through an employer's collection health plan will cost considerably more. People in California who use COBRA will spend $380 per month on premiums, though this can be offset somewhat through subsidization.
According to the US survey government department 84% of US populace have well being care, and only 9% obtain it in confidence. The remainders are receiving cover through a company provided plan, or from side to side some form of subsidize administration program. The outstanding 16% of the land is uninsured. That gives you an idea of how much health insurance costs.
If it is unspoken that, for the average user, an autonomous single indemnity plan will cost greater than the $4,700 conventional for employer-provided health care in the Kaiser study, then it can be understood that privately obtained plans are likely to cost as much and more with the charge rising as age or other health complications are factored in. When you are examining health plans you can use the baseline of the mean expenses of plans provided by employers as a starting point.
Understanding the tenuous situation of today's health care system, it is hard to predict what insurance will cost over any given time period.
The best option is to avail health-care from employer if provided, government-sponsored health care when you become eligible, low-priced COBRA like plans as makeshift if you cannot afford other insurance, and tap facilities at hospitals and clinics if you do not find ways to meet your health care needs otherwise.
This recommendation is however not the most trusting thing. It is, conversely, realistic: the present state of the wealth, the fluid state of the lawful issue of how the American Health Care system is going to be planned, and ever growing rise in health care costs makes any other advice careless.

12 Pomegranate Health Benefits

Countless studies have shown the seemingly countless benefits of fruits for a person's health. The U.S. Government recommends that people get several servings of fruits every day. Of all the fruits available in the market today, one fruit is at its height of popularity because of its legendary Greek mythology association and its exoticism-the pomegranate fruit.
Considered as one of the earliest fruits that have been cultivated along with grapes, figs, olives, and dates somewhere between 4000 B. C. E and 3000 B. C. E., pomegranate continued to be an emblem of fertility, rebirth, and health.
Dubbed as a "miracle fruit" by some fans, pomegranate has earned its popularity because it is thought to possibly help support the body's natural defenses against Alzheimer's disease, various cancers, coronary and heart diseases, arthritis and many ailments an aging person experiences. Because of its so -called anti-aging possibilities, pomegranate has had several food and beverage variations from juices, ice creams, dishes, and even in water that come in bottles.
Why is pomegranate good for you?
This handsome fruit is quite popular for its deep and purple-colored juice that is packed with lots of antioxidants that may help in maintaining a smooth and wrinkle free skin. But, aside from the possibility of helping people to maintain youthful and glowing skin by keeping the blood platelets together, there are so many health benefits of pomegranate to people of all ages. While no health claims are made regarding pomegranate whatsoever, here are some of the remedies and uses that some people hope pomegranate can help with.
1. It may help reduce the risk of having a heart disease, heart attacks, and strokes. Studies show that pomegranate juice daily may help support the normal blood flow to the heart. 2. It may help support the body's normal defense in the prevention of certain cancers. Since pomegranates has very high levels of antioxidant called "flavenoids" that is thought to be effective in counteracting various cancer-causing radicals, more and more experts recommend this fruit as a possible part of a healthy diet. Because of flavenoids, many people are consuming pomegranate because it is believed to help support their good health.
3. It may help reduce the risks for illnesses such as atherosclerosis, osteoarthritis, and diabetes. Because of the properties of pomegranate, conditions that are known to cause the thickening and hardening of arterial walls and damage in cartilage and joints are hoped to be helped by this fruit. Studies are needed of course to get test results. No claims are made as to what the pomegranate may or may not help.
4. It is a rich source of various vitamins. Pomegranate is a good, natural source of vitamins A, C and E as well as folic acid.
5. It is rumored to help reduce the possibility of having premature babies. Pomegranate juice and extract is thought by some people to help expectant mothers avoid having low birth weight babies.
6. Some users claim it is beneficial for relieving minor illnesses such as core throat.
7. Other users believe it might reduce the possibility of developing Alzheimer's disease among older people.
8. It is prized in some countries for the belief that it might help in achieving and maintaining a clear skin with youthful glow, and it is believed to help soothe skin inflammation.
9. The antioxidants are thought to help support the immune system.
10. It may help support healthy blood flow because of its iron properties. Pomegranate supports the blood by supplying it with iron, thus may help prevent anemia symptoms that include exhaustion, dizziness, weakness, and hear loss.
11. Aside from having lots of anti-oxidants, pomegranate also might have some anti-viral properties.
12. Pomegranate juice and extract is thought by some women to help in overcoming the feeling of general malaise during menopause.

Health Insurance Over 50 Amd under 65

Health Insurance Over 50 And Under 65

Expert Author Marilyn Katz
If you are between the ages of 50 and 65 and you are going to be looking for health insurance or are looking for health insurance you need some help. This is a tough age (of course what age isn't starting with the terrible twos) because you are at a prime age to start developing health problems. Statistically speaking and statistics is the only language insurance companies speak, the insurance company can predict they are going to spend more on 50-65 year old than a 20-45 year old. For that reason premiums are much higher for the older person.
But, we Baby Boomers are a smart group and where there is a will, there is a way. So let's look at some of the options:
If you currently have a job and are looking to retire or start your own business, you have a couple of avenues you can investigate. First you can inquire if your company will let you buy health insurance through the company plan. If your company will let you do this your employer (assuming we are talking early retirement) may subsidize part of your premiums. If not, you still get group rates which are a whole lot cheaper than individual rates. If you are married and your spouse is still working strongly consider adding yourself to his/her plan if that option is available to you.
The next option (if you currently have a job which provides health insurance) is COBRA or Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act. COBRA lets former employees and their dependents continue their employer's group coverage for up to 18 months. The best thing about COBRA is it is guaranteed. Your former employer's insurer can't turn you down even if you have a chronic medical condition. The worst thing about COBRA is the cost. Your employer generally covers 70% or more of your health insurance premium. With COBRA you have to pay the whole premium plus administrative costs. Industry surveys indicate based on an average premium (for 2007), a former employee would have to pay more than $373 a month for individual coverage and more than $1,008 a month for family coverage.
If you are not currently employed by a company who provides health insurance there are still choices for you. If you have pre-existing conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure you can receive coverage through a state high-risk health program designed to help those with medical conditions that prevent them from getting insurance. Again though like COBRA the premiums can be quite high.
You can also check out professional organizations you could join or are already affiliated with to see if they offer health insurance policies for members. Because these are group plans, the premiums may be less than what you would pay in the individual market.
Finally, there is the individual health insurance option. There has been some progress in terms of offerings of policies for the 50-65 year age group market mainly because insurers see this age group as a potential growth market. Many Baby Boomers are in good health and have higher income than younger people. Also insurance companies hope that retirees will still purchase their products, such as supplemental insurance, even after they're eligible for Medicare. Some of policies currently offered may have premiums as low as $200 per month for people who are in good health and willing to pay a high deductible. Many insurance advice columnists recommend combining a high deductible individual health insurance policy with a health savings account. HSA contributions are made with pretax dollars, and any money left over in the account at the end of the year is rolled over for future use. Withdrawals are not taxed if used for qualified medical expenses.

Medigap Insurance Health care

Medigap Insurance Medicare Supplements Affect on Home Health Care

What's Covered and What's Not
Medicare covers therapy, both physical and occupational therapy plus speech language pathology services. It also covers counseling, certain medical supplies, durable medical equipment, as well as assistance with day-to-day activities like bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, and toilet activities. For most of the other medical equipment, Medicare will provide coverage of 80% of its cost.
On the other hand, Medicare will not cover 24-hour home care, delivering meals to your home, and services that are not related to health care like housekeeping. You will also be required to pay 20 per cent for medical equipment not covered fully by Medicare like wheel chairs, walker and oxygen tanks.
On Medigap and the Possibility of Larger Coverage
Medigap, a supplement to Medicare insurance, covers certain services that Medicare doesn't cover. This might just also be the solution to patients on home health care. When used together with a Medicare supplemental plan, Medigap Insurance allows the patient to enjoy a larger coverage in terms of health benefits.
More often than not, Medigap and Medicare can cover a substantial portion of the costs on home health care. Insurance companies offer a variety of Medigap policies (Plans A through L), but since each type comes with specific benefits, it is best to compare the highlights closely. For one, Medigap policies vary by cost, and many insurance companies require you to have both Medicare Parts A and B in order to purchase a supplemental plan (5).
For senior citizens with both Part A and Part B of Medicare insurance, their home health care situation is, by default, covered. Thus, they get to save 20 per cent of their pocket expenses on medical equipment.
The cost of home health care should not cost an arm and a leg especially with Medicare and Medigap Insurance just within reach. Just keep in mind what your Medicare (and Medigap) insurance benefits are.
Ask information from your physician, home care agency, and insurance officer at Medicare Supplemental Insurance center.
